A Chinese restuarant in the Dudley area has been forced to close under an EPO order.
Following a customer complaint from a visit only the previous day, a swift investigation by the Environmental Health Agency led to immediate closure of the premises.
Their findings included an array of cockroaches and rat droppings, after which a 24 hour notice for a court appearance was handed to the restaurant owner for the emergency order to be discussed.
Speaking through a translator to owner’s daughter comfirmed their liability – “We have been using a pest control company but we can see they are not doing a decent job, so we intend to change them”.
In a moment that should act as a deterent to other businesses, the restaurant was fined over £1000 to be paid within 7 weeks and ordered to remain shut until the council certify otherwise, following successful proof of the pest problems being eleviated.
